January began with a shivering cold with temperatures reaching single digits! However, this did not dampen the Carltonite spirit! January was welcomed with Lohri celebrations, wherein there was a bonfire lit in the lawns along with dholak walas and scrumptious food, the merriment was clearly visible amongst the residents as they sang and danced around the fire to welcome the season of harvest and well-being.
Furthermore, Carlton also celebrated Republic day with much gusto! With food stalls set up by residents themselves, varying from Chola Bhatura, Rajma Chawal, Dahi Badas, Vada Paos and chocolate brownies and cakes to famous Calcutta suparis. For entertainment the young children of Carlton had prepared a dance devoted to the love for the country followed by a speech by The President of Carlton and some fun and games for the senior residents.
The day ended on a note of great bonhomie and patriotism.
