Ridgewood cultural committee organised an energetic Dandiya night on 20th October followed by Dussehra celebrations on 24th October.
It was a sight to see both young and not-so-young dance with Dandiya Sticks to the beats of catchy songs.
Residents came in traditional attire which made the function very enjoyable and a grand success. Not to lag behind, residents savoured lip snacky chat, jalebis, Chola Bhatura and spicy cheese cuisse.
Four days later, on 24th October, effigies of Ravana, Meghnath, and Kumbhkaran were lit in the presence of a big crowd of residents and children. In its one-of-a-kind celebrations, No firecrackers were used and in fact, canned firecrackers burst sound was played in sync with the effigy burning. Since crackers were banned, the bursting sound was appreciated by all.
As usual food stalls were the main draw after Ravan Dhahan as is the case in all Ridgewood celebrations. Vandita Gupta of the cultured committee of Ridgewood expressed happiness that both functions organized by the committee were a big success and encouraged them to organise more such events.
