This is the time of the year when we our spirits are uplifted and enthusiasm sets in after a lull period of summer months. So we at Mahagum Maple celebrated September as a month full of festivities.
Janmashtami
The birth of Lord Shri Krishna was celebrated at a cultural event organised in the Maple Central Park with great enthusiasm and fervour. It was wondrous to see so many toddlers dressed up as Bal Krishnas. The bhajans and devotional dances were mesmerising and a traditional sumptuous dinner was a grand culmination to the evening.
Ganeshotsav
A few days later it was time to prepare for the next eagerly awaited festival – the Ganeshotsav. Many Maple residents brought home beautiful clay statues of Ganpati Bappa to worship during these ten days. Morning and evening pujas were offered and Lord Ganesha’s favourite ‘modaks’ were enjoyed as prasad.
It is heartening to see our traditions and culture being observed with such faith and joy. More special is the fact that there is full involvement of the next generation too, instilling in them a sense of pride in their identity and grand ancient heritage.
