Karwa Chauth: Karwa Chauth is a significant festival for Hindu married women. Young girls of North India also keep Karwa Chauth because it is always their dream to find a good soulmate.
On Sunday, 20 October at 3.45pm Ram Vihar lawn was packed up with beautiful ladies dressed in their best. This festival is more than fasting and following rituals. It is about celebrating love, devotion and tradition. The ladies were traditionally in bright colours especially in different shades of red and pink. Some were seen in green and yellow as these are also symbolic colours of married women. For KarwaChauth they had adorned their hands with the prettiest and trending henna designs.
This time all the ladies were seated on chairs in a circular formation. The story of ‘Vero’ was narrated by Rita Bhalla, resident of C- 209. Thalis were exchanged and soon after this all dispersed to their respective homes.Around 8.45 pm ladies came out and saw the moon, did puja for their husband’s long life and prayed for harmonious married life. Later they broke the fast with their husbands.
Birthday Bask Seniors Prove Age Is Just A Number: On 16 October the veterans of Ram Vihar had a get together in the party hall. This get together is held every 3rd Wednesday of each month. This time Commodore GP Kohly celebrated his 90th Birthday. He along with his son hosted the party. Cake was cut, photographs were taken and sumptuous snacks were served along with drinks. Commodore GP Kohly served in the Indian Navy in the branch of Electrical Engineering. He got his commission way back in 1956. On 25 July 2023 he and his wife shifted to Ram Vihar.
Commodore Kohly stole the spotlight in the party, demonstrating that the journey of life continues to be vibrant and full of adventures with different experiences regardless of age.
Deepawalimela& Bumper Tambola Ram Vihar Held a 2 Day Extravaganza: A grand Deepawali Mela was held on Sat, 26 October at 6.00 pm and Deepawali Bumper Tambola the following day ie. Sun, 27 October at 7.00 pm. It is that magical time of the year when we gear up to light up every corner of our homes for the most celebrated festival – DIWALI. These 2 days were just not events but a lively festival of love and harmony, showcasing the spirit of passion amongst the Ram Vihar residents.
The Mela was a grand success. Main attractions were games, eats, handicrafts, linen, trampoline and Mickey Mouse for the children. A large crowd was seen doing shopping of clothes and indulging and enjoying various eats. Nobody could resist from having chaat and Melting Scoop ice- cream.Those present enjoyed the lively atmosphere and the spirit of enthusiasm. Ram Vihar transformed into a festive shopping oasis with the Diwali Bazaar. One could find everything from clothes and accessories to home décor and handicraft products. The food stalls remained as tempting and inviting as ever.
A renowned singer Rakesh entertained all with live music over karoke. He sang beautifully various old and new numbers for atleast 2 hours without any break,
Tambola was held indoors in the party hall. Lot of ladies and children looked forward for the 3 houses of Tambola and a round of Malamaal. Snowball of Rs3,000 and good dividends were the main attraction.Nobody could claim the snowball, hence it is carried forward for the next round of Tambola in the month of November.
This was a perfect family outing to get into the spirit of Diwali. The festival of lights has a great significance. It is a symbolic victory of light over darkness as well as good over evil. Ram Vihar residents enjoyed both the evenings and now look forward for more occasions like this.
