Festivals are celebrations of our traditions, values and cultures. We worship deities and while doing puja we ask them to fulfil all our wishes. We buy everything to decorate our houses and we bring sweets for our family and friends. We are in a festive mood and in a very busy state like never before.
We all love festivals and we all love shopping too. However, these days we are mixing festivals with shopping. We think if we don’t shop, we can’t celebrate. This gives rise to increasing our credit card bills and decreasing our cash balances.
Just as we have mindful eating, so we should also have mindful shopping. But to go to a shopping mall and not buy anything extra or unexpected purchases is also rarely possible for us. However, there are some measures which can be enforced willingly or unwillingly to avoid extra shopping expenditures.
We can make a list of all the required items and the list should be taken out when making purchases. Secondly, put a credit card limit for online and offline purchases. This saves our merciless desires of buying what we can’t afford. Another way is to go inside only those shops which fulfil our requirements and avoid shopping. Visiting every shop in a mall not only increases the possibility of emptying the pocket but also wastes time which can be utilized for the rightful causes.
Thus, every person can think of different ways which suit them to save money and celebrate every festival more happily and more affordably.
