Feeding birds, and pet animals has been a practice, since time immemorial to impose the culture of “sharing and caring”. Recently a strict rule was framed by the condominium as the consequences of feeding the birds on window parapets and balconies led to environmental pollution. The droppings of pigeons outside the windows, on the outer edges of the towers, and close to the buildings became very nasty and unhygienic.
To solve the issue and also to keep up the practice of feeding the birds, the Condo allotted a place near the tennis court. A circular wide platform was built around a stout tree for the grains to be scattered for the birds. A wide-mouthed earthenware pot was filled with a pail of water – for the birds. Those who felt guilty about the restrictions of feeding birds became happy and relaxed and we residents breathed a sigh of relief of not breaking the chain of our tradition.
Thanks to Condominium for their prompt wise action.
