Fasting and Faith: Observing the Holy Month of Ramadan

Mahagun Moderne Residents Distributing Iftar

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, is a time of spiritual reflection, self-discipline, and devotion for Muslims worldwide. It is believed that Allah revealed the Qur’an to the Prophet Muhammad during this month, which is considered holy for the Islamic faith.

During Ramadan, Muslims fast from sunrise until sunset, abstaining from food, drink, and other physical needs. They engage in spiritual activities, such as praying and reading the Qur’an. It is a time for togetherness and generosity, with families and communities coming together to celebrate and break the fast at sunset.

In addition to fasting, many Muslims give charity and perform acts of kindness and service for others. The holy month of Ramadan is a time of community and togetherness, a time to strengthen relationships and build bonds with others.

Since 2019, a group of Muslims from Mahagun Moderne have been distributing vegetarian iftar boxes during this month. They have been ensuring that the needy within society as well as roadside vendors outside society have access to food and cooling drinks in Noida’s scorching heat.

This year too, they distributed around 850 vegetarian Iftar boxes to the house cleaners, support staff, and tower guards within the apartment complex. They also distributed an additional 150 vegetarian Iftar boxes at the nearest Sector 76 Markaz Mosque. These acts of kindness and service for others exemplify the spirit of generosity and community that is at the heart of Ramadan.
