Fall Of The Majestic Fauna

Under the maintenance charges, we expect various facilities, including well-maintained parks and roadside trees. While some parks receive attention, the trees are often neglected. Over time, these trees have grown tall and spread wide, becoming potential hazards when their branches tangle with electricity wires. This poses serious risks, including short circuits, falling branches, and potential accidents.

This issue has been particularly evident in P Block. On July 28th, a short circuit occurred in P3 lane when a branch from a Peepal tree fell on the power cables. Although new cables were quickly installed, the old ones were left hanging. Less than a week later, on August 3rd, another branch from the same tree caused a similar short circuit. Both incidents, though promptly addressed, could have been prevented with proper tree maintenance.

On August 13th, a large tree in P Block fell on the water tank. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but it highlighted the danger posed by unmaintained trees throughout the area. Previously such incidents caused severe damage to cars and personal properties. All these fallen parts of majestic trees are often seeing lying somewhere around the tree, forming an unpleasant sight and causing another concern for injury to strays. Even the changed wires are discarded around the area of the mishap. If agencies work hand in hand and follow timely protocol then these mishaps can surely be avoided.

Residents are urged to report overgrown trees and tangled wires to the Community Centre to ensure timely action is taken.
