Simi : How nice of you to visit me on Teachers’ Day.
Yuvraj – First of all thank you so much for having me here Simi ma’am. It’s amazing that I get to share
Teacher’s day with the most inspiring teacher I’ve met in my life.
Simi : A Teacher is only as good as their students and I’m proud of you. You have grown into an intelligent young man ready to take on the world.
Yuvraj: I’m back in India, joined college & working alongside Dad in our export house.
Simi : At 14 you acted in ‘Challang ‘ starring Raj Kumar Rao. Share some insight….
Yuvraj: The film ‘Challang ‘ was a life altering experience. I remember when you took me for several rounds of auditions, interviews & fitness tests (as it was a sports film). Then the screen tests & script readings. I got to experience life behind the camera & witness the incredible efforts and manpower required to shoot a Bollywood Film.
Simi : Besides that what else did you gain?
Yuvraj: Having worked alongside big stars like Rajkumar Rao, Nushrat Barusha, Satish Kaushik and to be directed by Hansal Mehta was extremely motivating. Also it taught life skills – DISCIPLINE, HARD WORK, PERSEVERANCE, TEAM WORK & that “NOTHING IS EASY IN LIFE” !!
Simi : You all stayed on film location with Raj Kumar Rao. What was he like?
Yuvraj: I always thought that superstars like him would be arrogant and have an attitude but he was humble & down to earth. He used to play PUBG & cricket with us kids & joke around. A very fun person to be around. Once the camera was on he was very professional.
Simi : What was your Canada university experience?
Yuvraj: I had a vision of a fresh start & making it big in a new country. But I did a double take when I got there. Student life is tough coz besides studies, one has to manage travel, food etc. Students slightly older were working 30-40 hrs a week along with study & household chores. Having to wait by the roadside for an hour at -30 degrees to catch a bus …then it’s delayed by an hour, was just one FROZEN instance of everyday struggle. I soon realized all wasn’t HUNKYDORY in the promised land & headed back to Delhi.
Simi: Don’t be melodramatic Yuvi !
Yuvraj: Ofcourse, everything wasn’t negative, I made good friends & got to experience life in a developed nation with phenomenal infrastructure. Exploring different cultures was definitely a character building process.
Simi : Any other high point from your Canada univ.
Yuvraj: Theatre !! I’m not a morning person at all & to have to wake up at 7am for an ECONOMICS class wasn’t my cup of tea. Fortunately I dropped that subject & opted for a theatre elective which changed my life. Through that I got to know about the AWT audition. I witnessed how technical & visually creative CANADIAN Theatre could be. I worked with professionals & masters in the field. My best experience in Canada where I enjoyed & learnt the most .
Simi – what is your POV about GK2?
YUVRAJ – Traffic Management is our biggest challenge ! My college is only 6 km away but it takes nearly an hour. Even getting out of GK2 is a daily hassle. There is always a JAM at the intersection. My grandparents lived here & then my parents. But it got very noisy & mismanaged. If our Colony society can just improve these basic conditions we could all continue to live happily in GK2.
Simi – Young blood is always welcome! I think if you lot play a more active & participatory role then things will surely turn for the better.
Yuvraj – Yes , CHANGE BEGINS WITH US
