Experience Of Senior Citizen CP Khanna Of Defence Colony

To support our senior citizens and highlight 1-2 seniors every month, Samvada has now started a new column to meet them to know more about their personal experiences, suggestions, and issues. This month we met C. P. Khanna, R/O A-433, Defence Colony.

Khanna, who migrated from Pakistan and settled in Kolkata in the initial period of his life, has served as office superintendent in the Ministry of Defence Army. He took premature retirement in 1991 and shifted to the colony in 1992. As he was socially inclined, he was associated with the JCO club and association for approximately 15 years and served in various posts. His splendid tenure was remembered by everyone in the A Block for timely service, availability, and humble behavior. Khanna is now associated with the Senior Citizen Forum (SCF) as treasurer and is always available for the seniors during their visits in the morning and evening.

Khanna is a regular visitor to Arya Samaj Mandir in the early hours for puja and aarti and has been acknowledged by the Mandir Committee for his devotion for many years. He has been quite satisfied with the facilities in the colony and also using Mohalla Clinic for his medical check-ups and medicines. He has suggestions for the betterment of our colony:

• Better street lights and roads for the movement of senior citizens to move freely in  the market for their walks. Cleaner backlanes for easy movement:

• More recreational facilities for seniors to enjoy more and more

• Pilgrimage trips for seniors to various destinations like Haridwar, Rishikesh, Agra, etc.

• More speed breakers to control speeding vehicles in the colony

Lastly, we at Samvada are feeling privileged to meet our seniors for this interaction to take their feedback and suggestions to make our colony the best for all age groups.
