Kailash Dham youth awarded Gold Medal
We are proud to share that Kailash Dham (Sector-50) resident Shikhar Asthana has won the prestigious Vice-Chancellor’s Gold Medal for topping the M.Tech (Artificial Intelligence) course of the Delhi Technological University (DTU), formerly known as Delhi College of Engineering. His admission to DTU was based on his GATE performance.
The coveted Gold Medal was presented by Prof Prateek Sharma, Vice Chancellor DTU, and Prof Yogesh Singh, Vice Chancellor Delhi University (Chief Guest) in the pre-convocation function held on 18 December 2024 to felicitate the medal and scholarship winners of the University. His M.Tech (AI) degree was awarded the next day in DTU’s 11th Convocation. The Convocation was presided over by V K Saxena, Lt. Governor, Delhi, with Atishi Marlena, Chief Minister, Delhi, as the Guest of Honour.
Shikhar Asthana is the younger son of Kavita and Sudhanshu (residents of 423, Block-15, Kailash Dham). He is an alumnus of Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, Noida, having secured admission based on his qualifying the JEE-Mains. He completed his B.Tech with Honours in Computer Science Engineering (CSE).
During his school days, Shikhar excelled in sports having won a number of inter-school and district-level roller-skating competitions and awarded school’s Co-Scholastic Gold Medal (Sports). He also excelled in academics, scoring 10 CGPA in Class-X and was awarded the school’s Scholars’ Badge. Regarding hobbies, Shikhar is an avid air-gunner, traveller and loves watching UFC matches on TV as and when he manages to get a break from his hectic professional work-life.
His mother, Kavita Shanker, is working as a Senior Chemistry Teacher and Coordinator (Class-X) in Delhi Public School KP-V, Greater Noida, while is father Sudhanshu Shanker was with the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (ONGC), New Delhi, from where he had retired after more than three decades of service and postings across the country. Shikhar has an elder brother who’s a corporate lawyer and settled abroad in Canada.
