The Espacia Society recently came together to celebrate the sacred occasion of Gurpurab on Sunday, 8 December commemorating the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
The festivities began with a spirited Safai Sewa on the evening of Saturday, 7 December, where residents of all age groups enthusiastically participated in cleaning the surroundings from Tower 32 to 38, leading up to the main ground.
As the devotees toiled in selfless service, the benevolent members of the Sukhmani Sahib group bestowed upon the sangat divine elixir of badam milk bringing forth the spirit of Sewa.
The sangat was also provided with refreshments, including bread pakora and water stalls, courtesy the organisers’ thoughtful arrangements. As the sun set, the pathways were meticulously cleaned with water, paving the way for the grand arrival of Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji the following morning.
The next morning, the multipurpose ground was transformed into a vibrant and colourful setting, adorned with balloons and flowers. Volunteers from each tower took it upon themselves to decorate the tower entrances and distribute flowers to every household, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for the arrival of Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
The swari Saheb of Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji was brought from Mr. Gulati’s residence in Tower 34, accompanied by heartfelt prayers and warm welcomes from the gathered sangat.
The Prabhat Pheri commenced from Tower 32, with devotees from each tower participating in the procession, showering flowers and bowing their heads in reverence.
Each tower offered snacks and parshad to the sangat, while Ragi and sewadars from the local gurudwara Saheb led the congregation in melodious paath and shabad Gurbani.
The atmosphere was electric, with the entire Espacia Society resonating with positive vibrations.
The celebration reached its crescendo with performances by local children and the Sukhmani Saheb group, culminating in the recitation of Anand Saheb and ardaas. As Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji was taken back to its resting place, the devotees once again showered flowers and bowed their heads in gratitude.
The grand finale was the langar, which was savoured by approximately 1200 devotees. The delectable spread included dal, aloo Gobhi, chawal, raita, moong dal ka halwa, tandoori roti, and achari salad, all prepared and served with love and devotion by the sewadars.
As the curtains drew on this unforgettable Gurpurab celebration, the Espacia Society community came together, united in their devotion, gratitude, and love for the divine.
