Encroachments All Around Safdarjung Enclave

Illegal Parking On Colony Roads

The Kamal Cinema market popularly known as the Rajinder Dhaba market is a source of nuisance of all sorts to the residents of entire Safdarjung Enclave, specially to the residents of A1 and B4 Block as theses two blocks are the nearest to this market. Eminent residents as well as RWA’s have been complaining about this market since years to the concerned authorities but till date no official or elected representative has done anything or taken any action against this serious problem.

Because of one small legal parking, many illegal parkings have sprung-up abetted by MCD Parking contractors in front of Rajendra Dhaba complex and near the entry gate of Safdarjung Club. There is perpetual traffic jam and continuous honking by stranded vehicles on the road, especially in the evenings of Friday- Sunday. Impossible to live in house because of loud noise – but where can senior citizen us go? At times, they park vehicle in front of our gate blocking our exit completely. I had to call Police a couple of times. Other nearby parkings (within 200 m), e.g. in AB Block Market or in front of PNB, remain empty. MCD must remove the parking on main Ch. Jhandu Singh Marg near the busy Rajendra Dhaba complex. Also, the footpath near the bus stand near Safdarjung Club has been illegally occupied by so many squatters, and many vehicles parked right around the bus stop – neither one can walk on footpath, and the DTC bus driver has to stop in the middle of the road Then comes the issue near Greenfields school. There is total chaos during morning and afternoon school times. One can not go to the A block market or to visit any friend/family in A block due to massive traffic jams in the inside road near BSES office. People living there are literally living in hell and there is no one to listen to their woes. Schools situated within the residential premises are a big source of inconvenience to the people near by.

Next nuisance are the car showrooms on Africa avenue where all possible models of car showrooms can be seen on the entire stretch and 24×7 cars are parked not only on the service lanes but also on the busty main road opp Bhikaji Cama Place. One wonders how these showrooms are allowed to flout such serious traffic rules ? When on ordinary citizen is challaned heftily for minor traffic offence. The busy Sara Mathew Road is a source of concern to the B1-B3 residents. The Goyal MRI centre is visited by hundreds of patients. Ambulances, staff bikes, cars are forever parked on this bust road making the lives of residents living close by a literal nightmare.

Coming to B5 and B6. The six degree café has done massive encroachment on the public pavement. When the people lodged a complaint to the MCD there was raid in the morning but by 6 pm all the tables and furniture was back again. Which clearly proves that there is no fear for law. Everything can be manipulated by bribing.

Blocking traffic and endangering alighting/ riding passengers, blocking pavements, loud noise has become a serious issue which needs to be dealt with a strong hand.

MCD, PWD and other wings of GNCTD must act decisively to address this menace, and bring civility and safety to citizen.
