Sector 48 in Noida is grappling with a pressing issue – encroachment. This problem has been escalating over the years, with a staggering Rs 400 crore worth of land, belonging to Noida Environment, being taken over. Residential plots in B Block and C Block, community buildings, and even parts of the green belt have fallen prey to encroachment.
The residents of Sector 48 have been tirelessly fighting this issue. In 2018, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) ordered the removal of encroachments and restoration of the green area. However, despite this ruling, the problem persists.
One of the most visible consequences of encroachment is the construction of an additional market near the prominent school in our Sector. This has led to an influx of street vendors, further exacerbating the issue. The sector’s environment has deteriorated significantly, with the once-pristine green belt now being used for commercial purposes.
The security arrangements in the sector have also been compromised due to the creation of irregular roads. The main entry point from DSC Road, which was designed to be a grand entrance, is now flanked by encroached structures. This not only mars the aesthetic appeal of the sector but also poses a significant security risk.
It’s imperative that the authorities take immediate action to restore Sector 48 to its former glory. The residents deserve a clean, green, and secure environment, and it’s the responsibility of the authorities to ensure that this is provided.
