An empty Plot or vacant house besides being an eyesore, is a constant irritant for the nearby residents in any colony. The builder does not maintain them for Non-payment of maintenance charges by owners. In most cases residents are not sure who the owner is and neither do we have their contact details.
Most vacant plots are used for urinating, dumping garbage, defecating, parking illegal vehicles and other illegal activities. Recently, a group of smackies were caught in an empty unfinished house and when our guards enquired, they told us that this ‘adda’ was quite common for them and this is not the first time they are coming here. They had been regularly visiting this house!
In another incident, Juveniles were caught removing bathroom fittings using knives and other hard tools. They were caught taking drugs and alcohol. Every now and then are handed to local police.
Through this article, we request the Builders that if owners can be contacted, open plots can be fenced so none enters. Vacant houses can be monitored and owners’ details shared by RWA’s. Also, any resident who sites any sort of activity in these kinds of houses or plots should immediately contact the local guards.
