IC residents gathered on Friday, 5 April for a cherished tradition – the Iftar get-together. The evening was not just about breaking the day’s fast; it was about coming together as a community, fostering bonds, and celebrating the spirit of togetherness.
The venue, adorned with floral decorations and white table linens, exuded warmth and hospitality. Everyone was awaiting the moment to break their fast together. Laughter and chatter filled the air, blending with the soft strains of traditional music playing in the background.
As the time for Iftar approached, platters of dates and glasses of mohabbat ka sharbat, were passed around, symbolizing the breaking of the fast in accordance with tradition. Then, as the adhan (call to prayer) resounded, signalling the end of the day’s fast, the meal began.
The spread laid out before us was a testament to the diversity and richness of our community. From traditional delicacies to modern interpretations of classic dishes, there was something to tantalize every palate.
Biryanis, succulent kebabs, and Kulfi desserts tempted us from every corner of the table. But it was not just the food that made this gathering special; it was the spirit of sharing and generosity that permeated the atmosphere.
Neighbours exchanged smiles and stories as they passed dishes to one another, forging connections that go beyond mere acquaintance. As the evening progressed, the Iftar gave way to a dinner, with each dish more delectable than the last.
Conversations flew freely, bridging divides of age and background. New friendships formed, and old bonds strengthened, creating a sense of belonging that was heartwarming. But the most memorable part of the evening was the sense of unity and solidarity that permeated the gathering.
As the night drew to a close and the last morsels savoured, there was a feeling of gratitude and contentment.
