Posters and banners with Votes for … MHARA Haryana…‘haath badlega’… etc are visible everywhere. Autos and tractors are blaring names of Daualatbad, Mukesh, Mohit, Narbir, Naveen, Vardhan and a few more in and around South City 1.
Assembly Elections are around the corner, and everyone is discussing strengths, weaknesses, scams, jumlaas, and the fate of parties A, B and C of Indian polity, and a few other parties.
esidents of South City 1 have also caught the election fever. Candidates of key parties have come to South City 1 and they have been meeting Residents and canvassing for votes.
The BJP candidate for Gurgaon, Mr Mukesh (Pehlwaan) Sharma, was the first one to have held a meeting with Residents in August itself even before his nomination had been confirmed. He again decided to meet with the Residents in September.
Mr Mohit Grover from Congress held a meeting with Residents on 22nd September, as did Rao Narbir Singh, the BJP candidate from Badshapur.
Mr Naveen Goyal and Ms Kumudini Daulatabad, both Independent candidates for our 2 constituencies have planned meetings in the last weekend of September in South City-1. We can enjoy the pomp and show, listen to promises and slogans, and hope the best candidates are elected in a free and fair manner.
As South City 1 Residents, we only hope that the persons elected take care of at least the following key issues:
- Overflowing storm water & Sewers
- Damaged roads and lack of streetlights in many areas
- Inadequate water supply infrastructure and its maintenance
- Poor sanitation and lack of mechanism for disposal of Horticulture Waste
- Funds for the maintenance of public parks
- Indiscriminate cutting of Trees in South City 1 in the process of making entries for houses
- Encroachment on the pavement area by many shopkeepers in Silokhra Market & hawkers outside the South City Arcade causes inconvenience to pedestrians and frequent traffic jams on the main road of South City-1
- Frequent traffic issues in and around South City-1
Having been at the receiving end of a lot of civic mishaps, we at South City 1, are hoping on a wing and a prayer that the best candidate wins and we can move from the mundane to the sublime.
