I just spoke with professor Satya Pal Singh, election officer, DU and had a fight with him because he refused to take the responsibility of the pre-election scenario. He said he had issued the guidelines and now it adherence is our responsibility by creating a Monitor group, seek police protection and prevent students from defacing, bursting crackers, taking out the rally. I told him not to wash his hands off as it is their election. To which, he said very dramatically, “They are our children also and it is our election too.”
I had a long fight with him and finally he conceded that he had called a joint meeting of the DCP, ACP, and MCD recently and told them to take charge of the situation.
ANRWA will be writing to the election officer, Police Commissioner, MCD Commissioner. Those who are interested to write, please do so. They need to be flooded with our emails.
