Pankaj Aggarwal, Gen Sect of joint front RWA and Efforts group organised an all party meet at the library where all the candidates including the independent One Devanshi was invited to express their agenda for the elections.
People feared slogan shouting and misconduct by different party workers but by and large it was a very successful programme with a few irritants that are quite acceptable in such meetings.
Surprisingly all the candidates reached on time and the hall was almost full to capacity. The programme started sharp at 5.30 with high tea , idli vada and sambar which was enjoyed by all. As soon as the candidates started coming in all the residents also occupied their seats. Pankaj welcomed all the guests with flowers and invited them one by one on stage. All candidates spoke about their vision as to what they will do to spruce up the colony and how they will manage garbage dumps and solve the issues of pruning.
The loudest applause went to masterji Lokesh who spoke about corruption in the system and highlighted the role of money power used during elections and he raised the issue of ticket buying by candidates . He stressed on the point that when a candidate is spending couple of lakhs or even a crore on securing a ticket he/she desires to make ten times more money during their 5 year tenure. How can we expect them to work for the welfare of the society? A councillor does not get any salary from the Govt then how come all the councillors become exceedingly rich within 5years? The audiences grilled all candidates about the issues plaguing the colony like garbage disposal, back lane cleaning on time , filthy dhalaos, no pruning, maintenance of parks and most importantly encroachments all around by dhabas and car show rooms. Rajinder ka Dhaba is a nuisance in the colony was the burning topic which almost all parties evaded to answer.
We really hope that the new councillor who gets elected in this ward fulfills all the promises.
Pankaj Aggarwal gave a list of memorandum to all the candidates where many recommendations/ expectations and issues of public interest were noted and were given to all of them. This time residents will keep a check on whether the promises are kept or not and if not then the councillor will be answerable to the public on the same public platform
