Every year, on Shahidee Gurpurab of the 5th Guru, Shri Guru Arjan Dev Ji, Chabeel Sewa is organized by devotees across India. In 1606, the Mughals tortured Guru Arjan Dev ji by making him sit on a burning hot iron plate. Hot sand was poured on him as he refused to compromise his faith. Even in this extremely unbearable situation, Guru Sahib kept his calm and accepted it as sweet will of God. To remember the sacrifice of Guru Sahib Ji, devotees set up kiosks and distribute ‘Kachhi Lassi’ or ‘Chabeel’. On Sunday, 28 May, residents of AOH and Lotus Panache came together to organize Chabeel Sewa near the AOH Commercial Gate. Volunteers from both societies came out to do the Sewa by making and distributing Chabeel to people passing by through the day.
