On Sunday, 28 July (Coinciding with World Nature Day), an interaction was held at ATS Greens Village with a professional consultant expert and experienced in water management systems.
Interested residents, members of the AOA BoM and the estate management team attended. The discussion underlined how regular cleaning and maintenance of sewer, storm water, and rainwater harvesting (RWH) lines are essential for residential societies like ours. These services prevent blockages, protect health and safety, mitigate flooding risks, prolong infrastructure life, provide environmental benefits, ensure regulatory compliances, offer cost savings and enhance community well-being.
ATS Village AOA has committed interest to look into revamping and recharging the rainwater reservoirs, one pit at a time, to understand what all steps need to be taken further to put this inherited infra facility to optimum use for conserving rainwater.
As it is, we experienced extremely high temperatures this summer. Climate change is knocking at our doors. Monsoon is the most opportune time to focus on water conservation.
Just a day prior to the scheduled interaction at ATSGV, on 27 July, there was a very significant gathering at the Indira Gandhi Kala Kendra. The programme, ty gS rks dy gS] was held to acknowledge the relentless efforts of Abhisht Kusum Gupta, a proactive resident of Sector 137, who has initiated a volunteers’ group to work on restoration of ponds, wetlands, and cleanup of the Hindon River and Riverfront. The event was chaired by the
District Magistrate of Gautam Buddh Nagar, Manish Verma; and was attended by the ACEO of Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority, ACEO of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority, the District Forest Officer, among others. All the officers laid stress upon the urgent need to focus on water conservation and protection, with emphasis on sustainable use and conservation of water as a resource, at individual home and association/society level as well, alongside action at state and national level. Coming monsoon was identified as the best time to start work on RWH.
There is hope that all Noida officials, residents and associations will be proactive in responding to this need of the time we are in.
