Campaign to Improvise & Improve the Existing Facilities in MCD Schools
With this motto in mind Councillor’ Anita Basoya and Sandeep Basoya launched a campaign to improvise and improve the existing facilities in MCD schools.
It started with multiple tours of the MCD schools in Andrews Ganj ward. Regular meetings with the principal and administrative staff revealed most of these schools required a major overhaul and a through upgradation of school infrastructure. Some schools dating back to 1960 had excessive seepage in walls and the tree branches were protruding from within the walls.
Another problem which plagued these schools was huge drop in attendance of children post covid.
It was realised what was required was a regular and systemic screening of issues by a dedicated team of educationists and social workers who could go regularly to the schools allotted to them and assess and update about the progress in education and infrastructure sector.
What has further been proposed is a diligent set of extra co-curricular and skill-based activities which can be conducted on voluntary basis by Councillors Education representative in all the schools.
With these activities and regular counselling of children and parents the attendance issue can be seamlessly tackled and children can get more qualitative exposure in these schools.
A huge achievement has been the recognition of the fact that Education should not have a gender limitation …. The decade old Varun Marg school opened its doors to both girls and boys ( it was an exclusive boys school till few months back )
The upgradation to a Co Ed school and inauguration of a fully AC auditorium along with a state of art MAC Apple studio for digital learning and recording as also the new thrust to a skill-based Montessori learning and shift to new teaching aids aims to revolutionise the Education set up of Govt schools so that more and more deserving seekers see these schools in a new light and in the times to come these schools emerge as Centres of Excellence in Education and Empowerment.
