The onset of spring sets us in a space where we are happy and we belong; where we savour the sweetness of the first sunshine and welcome the season of the new beginnings. With this comes ‘Holi’, one of the major festivals of India celebrated with enthusiasm and gaiety on the full moon day in the month of ‘phalgun’.
‘Phoolon ki Holi’ or ‘Holi of flowers’ is an awe-inspiring event that was held on 04 March, second time in the row, at Radha Krishna temple in Eldeco Utopia complex. The tradition of celebrating this particular Holi originated in the ‘Braj’ region, close to Mathura and today it has become a trend which is followed and respected by many religious communities. During its celebration, it was a true delight to experience the vibrant colours of flowers all around. It was truly a sight to behold!
The event started at 6.30 pm, where captivating manifestation of Lord Krishna and his adoring partner Radha decked, gorgeously, along with the sakhi and sakhas, performed the Raslila. Over a hundred of enthusiasts attended this spectacular extravaganza with a unique verve and zing.
The artist from Vrindavan mesmerized the audience with their dance performance on the stories of Radha and Krishna. It was ecstatic to watch artist dress as Radha and Krishna and all the people present at the event seemed to be completely immersed in the colours of Holi and bhakti. They smeared each other with the flower petals.
This floral festival is unique as it is not played with traditional synthetic dry and wet colours but with flower petals of rose and marigold. It was a brief celebration that lasted for nearly two hours, where one could see only flowers around.
The evening concluded with the bhog Prasad, and each and everyone drenched in the Bhakti Ras.
