Ganesha Chaturthi was celebrated on 07 September, this year, marking the arrival of Lord Ganesha into the homes of devotees to bless them with all things auspicious in their lives. The festival is celebrated on the fourth day of Shukla Paksha of Hindu month of Bhadrapada. This festival marks the birthday of Lord Ganesha, whose idol is established at homes, and finally the immersion/ visarjan is done on 10th Day, on the day of Anant Chaudasi. It is believed that Ganesha comes as a guest for a few days and then goes back to his abode at Mount Kailash.
In Crescent,
Smita Singh (A502) brought Ganpati home, and took all care of Him; pampering Him for 10 days for 10 days, with religious offerings/ bhog on all days. “I was so emotionally attached to Him, he was like a family in my home; I still miss him.” She also did visarjan in an eco-friendly way.
Vandana Beri (A401) also brought Bappa home in eco-friendly, bio-degradable material and worshipped him with all devotion for 10 days. On the last day was an elaborate religious function at her home with Lord Ganesha’s songs. She did visarjan at home, and the holy water of visarjan was used in gardening.
Lord Ganesha is the God of wealth and prosperity, and Crescent hopes the blessings of the Lord continue to be showered on all residents for the entire year.
