The E5 Park, Sector-50, has been completely transformed from what it was in the beginning, to what it is now. Thanks to the efforts of the residents of the E block. After it was developed initially, within a few years it was reduced to a barren playground for growing up children, to play football and cricket. On the days of shaadi muhurats, it turned into a wedding venue. Pitching of tents and dinner preparation by halwai would go on during the day, the main wedding at night and the garbage strewn all over seen the next morning. It was all because it could be accessed from the Barat ghar by a wicket gate.
With the daring efforts of a few E block ladies, who locked the connecting gate to the Bharat ghar, that the practice of treating this as wedding venue was stopped. It was now kept clean of the unnecessary mess. Few years back the process of the development of the park started; again with the persistence efforts of the residents of the block. When they have such a nice location to spend mornings and evenings, then why go to some other park of the sector?
Horticulture/civil departments set out to transform this park on the lines of the latest park design –with gazebo, fountain at the centre and well-made walking track. The Sector-50 RWA ensured that the work was carried out properly. It took few years to get to its full-fledged form that it is today.
The fountain runs with full force and sends cool breeze across. Visitors love to pass by it. The walking track has got fresh layer of red sand all along. The soft soil walking track is good and soft for the walkers, unlike the paved walking track which is harsh and affects the knees in the long run.
The gazebo has arrangement of benches, which is the ‘adda’ for the seniors to sit and spend nice relaxing time. However, it’s disturbing to see used wrappers left behind by casual visitors.
Residents need to be vigilant; in case they see any such careless act done being done. A park is a central meeting place of any locality and pride of the area.

Samvada Note: Sector-50 has a number of parks, one for each block, all well maintained. Readers please contribute photos and details of the park near you. We will publish the coverage of your park.
