This year Dussehra was celebrated on the 12 th of Oct and Malibuites celebrated the festival with their usual ‘Josh’. A very well-organised Mela was held in Central Park. A host of stalls ranging from games to food to home decor adorned the area. Grownups and kids had a gala time enjoying the lip-smacking snacks and exciting games. A major attraction of the evening was the colourful dance performances by the Malibu ladies. The performances were flagged off by the graceful Dhuni dance. This was followed by a stirring dance drama depicting the epic battle between Lord Ram and Ravana. The performance was an artistic presentation depicting Ravan Vadh, and the characters portrayed by our young girls Bhavya (playing Ram) and Harshita (playing Ravan) were indeed powerful and poignant. This was followed by the Dandiya Dhoom, where we had The Happy Souls dancing in full gusto to some latest Dandiya beats. The finale was in the form of a rocking Dandiya performance done by a large group of around 30 ladies. Manita Jain, the choreographer and the MC for the evening swung the evening, in her inimitable style. The old, the young, and the kiddos joined in the melee with their Dandiyas and let their hair down, grooving to the DJ’s beats. The evening culminated in the traditional Ravan Dahan, symbolising the eternal victory of Good over Evil. The residents went home with joyful hearts after these wonderful celebrations.
