This year’s Durga Puja at C block was special as it carried the theme of women empowerment, as Maa Durga is herself an empowered goddess, according to Subir Ghosh who is the chairman of the Cultural Committee of C block and managed to scale mountains to organize Durga Puja this year. The first time this year an all-women band whose nascent performance lured many hearts. Many people visited the site this year and community lunch at the Bhog was available for all of them every day.
The presentation of the whole pandal was humongous, many attractive stalls were decorated and thus were crowd pullers. Many pujaris were committed in their service to Maa Durga and continuously distributed prasadam to all regardless of the time. Maa’s statue was very attractive and the crowd was decent, Dhunuchi dance in reverence to Maa Durga, stole the show.
The community presentation of dances, singing and enlightening anecdotes used to enthral the crowd, though some residents living nearby did object to the megaphonic sound after 10 pm which was taken into account and managed peacefully.
Such religious, socio-cultural gatherings are the backbone of a society and we hope it gives strength and peace to the community and together they prosper and thrive until the dawn of another pujo!
