The need for securing South City-1 by installing gates and restricting access for outsiders especially late at night became apparent yet again this month. A car driven at high speed crashed into an Electric Pole at around 1 am on 19 May 2024.
A SCRWA security guard stationed at Block E- F Gate saw the car being chased by the Police rider and coming from Club Patio. He tried to shut down the exit by moving the barricades. The car driver tried to turn his car when he saw the exit being closed and hit the electric pole near E-6.
The occupants of the car were in an inebriated state and were finding it difficult to walk when they exited the vehicle. The airbags in the car saved the occupants but the car was completely damaged.
The Police rider and the local police from Sector 40 Police Station took complete charge of the proceedings after the accident. The Police appreciated the alertness and quick reaction by the security guard.
