People Dump Trash, Polythene & Other Objects in These Large & Small Drains
by Charu Jain
The drains around E-Block were cleaned on the 3rd and 4th of Dec. Govind Sharma, president of RWCS, posted information about this on various WhatsApp groups many times. He also requested that residents remove their cars from the side of the drains.
The contractors, apparently say that there’s a delay in cleaning residential sewers and drains due to concrete ramps built by residents over drain chambers in front of their houses.
One hopes that with this initiative, the clogged drains will be cleared. However, cleaning the drains and raising complaints is a temporary solution. The need of the hour is to look at the root cause of this problem, namely, throwing garbage down drains. To solve this problem permanently, the human mentality will have to change. People dump trash, polythene, and other unnecessary objects down these large and small drains. This should stop immediately. Throwing garbage down drains should be completely prohibited, with severe penalties imposed.
