Dr. Geeta and Ramesh Katarya completed 50 years of married life on Dec 27, 2024. This loving couple moved to the N block of GK 1 in 2009. Katarya has been honorary secretary for two terms and president for one term of the N Block Welfare Association. An electrical engineer by profession, he retired as Commander from the electrical branch of the Indian Navy under the Ministry of Defence.
Mrs. Katarya retired as a vice principal, from Lady Irwin College, Delhi University.
Theirs is a story of love at first sight when the then Lieutenant Ramesh went to meet the young Geeta, who was pursuing an M Phil. They went on to raise a beautiful family of two sons and four grandchildren. Their younger son, Vineet, and his beautiful wife, Radhika, presented a dance depicting the couple’s 50-year journey at a party hosted at the Madhuban Hotel. The couple then exchanged garlands in the presence of close family and friends.
Everyone danced to their hearts’ content. Drinks and snacks were served through the evening, followed by a delicious spread for dinner. The venue was decorated tastefully with flowers and candles.
