Come to Daryaganj (Books in the Park) Last week, March, 2024
Mahesh Saksena, Secretary of Noida Public Library, recalls a regular practice during his engineering college days of senior students offering their textbooks to juniors once the academic session concluded. This could be a current practice in some schools and colleges.
However, in case you don’t have any avenue to donate textbooks no longer required by your child, you are welcome to do so at the next Daryaganj event scheduled soon after Holi in March. Here you may also pick up textbooks relevant for your child.
Daryaganj is a quarterly give and take away book bazaar organised by Meghdutam Rangmanch at the Meghdutam Park Amphitheatre in Sector 50. It encourages sharing and giving away books of all genres, fiction, non-fiction, textbooks and children’s books, for free to book lovers.
We have also introduced an Open Mic session where you are welcome to recite poems, read your own creations, or poems/ passages of your favourite poets/ authors.
In this edition of Daryaganj, besides the regular exchange and giveaway of all book genres, we invite parents and children to donate textbooks they no longer need.
Some textbooks will be picked up by visitors at the Daryaganj bazaar itself. The rest of the donated books will be offered to community libraries in and around Noida. The Noida Public Library works with many schools in Noida and will distribute the donated textbooks according to their requirement.
School and college annual sessions usually get over by mid-March. We will share the exact date of Daryaganj as well as guidelines for donating books and participation in the Open Mic in the March edition of Samvaad. Members of Meghdutam Rangmanch will receive details through the broadcast group. For regular updates, join Meghdutam Rangmanch.
