Dog Pooh Remains A Big Problem

RWA and horticulture in cooperation with some residents are putting a lot of effort in making the central park clean and green. As a result it has come to a presentable state where one can at least walk. Being a vast area of 8 acres / 1600 metres from one end to another it’s a great to walk or run. However, one problem which everyone using the park dreads is stepping on Dog pooh. Agreed that there is no restriction on getting the dogs in the park but the dog owners and dog walkers should have the courtesy to pick up their dog’s pooh or making them defecate before they enter the park so that it doesn’t cause inconvenience to others using the park. MCD rules state that a person not picking up dog pooh can be fined up to rupees five hundred, which is quite nominal as compared to other countries. The other issue is that they don’t have the manpower to monitor and the RWA doesn’t have power to implement. The only way is to request the residents to instruct their dog walkers to restrain them for defecating in the park or otherwise pick it up. Also, urge other residents to volunteer and request these dog walkers not to dirty the park. Contributed by Anuj Bakshi
