An Interview With Dr Narasimhan Subramanian
Dr N. Subramanian, a senior urologist, practising at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, Sarita Vihar, has recently, shifted to New Friends Colony, D block, house number 1010. It is indeed, an honour, to have him amongst us, as a resident. He shifted, from Nehru Enclave, to be closer to the hospital. He is enjoying his new residence, as he is familiar, with most residents in his lane. He finds the colony, a cosmopolitan colony, with a mixed, genre of people. He is also very happy, with the functioning, of the RWA’S of New Friends Colony. He is impressed with their operations. Along with practising at Apollo Hospital, he has opened a private clinic at B 14, Friends Colony West.
Fate, had decided, at a very early age, that Narasimhan, would become a doctor. When he was around two and a half years old, he had contracted, a fatal disease of the hand, with dire outcomes. When he had a miraculous recovery, his mother told him, his hands were meant to heal, It was Gods wish to make him, a saviour of human beings.
Doctor Subramanian, is a Tamil Malayali, belonging to the Palghat region, though, he was born in Kolkatta. He completed medicine, from Delhi and later he went to London for training in surgery. He stayed on, in London, for 10 years.
There after, due to his aging parents and parents in-laws, he was wanted to come back, to india. His decision, to come back, was finalised In 1991, when Mr Pratap Reddy, owner of Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, visited England and proposed Dr Subramanian, to join Apollo. Though quality of life seemed lucrative, in London, Doctor Subramanian decided, to come back to india. He came back with a very low expectations, but he was fine with that.
He has been practising, for more than 30 years and along with medicine, he is also passionate, about giving back, to the society. He is an active member, of the Rotary Club, and is very passionate about “Polio Raviwar”.He personally goes for the polio camps, where he finds the Asha workers, very very proactive, he calls them, the “foot Soldiers”. He is also a member of the Physical Disability Neuro Aid And Research Foundation and the chairman of the Divyang Kendra.An active member, of the Samridhi Foundation, doctor Subramanian creates awareness, to enable, sustainable development. He is very keen, to create awareness, about creating rational methods of waste disposal, recycling and water conservation.
It is commendable how doctor Subramanian, is able to marry his professional life and social life. He and his wife, are avid singers, who enjoy, the same genre of music. They have a daughter who is a professor at the O.P. Jindal college, Sonipat.
