The festival of colours-Holi has always been special to us. The precursor to the Holi Celebration was Holika Dahan which was celebrated on 7th March at D-14 lane of Exclusive Floors. As per the tradition, a lot of ladies fasted on the occasion and performed puja subsequently. The formal puja was conducted by the Panditji in the evening and the fire was lit up afterwards. People also offered cow dung cakes, mustard seeds and oil, sesame seeds, sugar, wheat grains, Akshat and dried coconut to the holy fire. The puja was followed by a cluster of divine bhajans sung by the devoted residents who had come to seek the blessings of Lord Vishnu. The festival taught us that good always wins over evil.
After the holy celebration, it was time to get drenched in the festive spirit of Holi on 8th March at D-11 lane. Apart from the colourful colours, delicious sweets, and happening music, the icing on the cake was the Dholwala. All the residents danced to the tune of the dhol and had a whale of a time. The over-enthusiastic children played with colours and pichkaris. All the residents savoured a yummy platter of bedami puri, aloo sabji, dahi Bhalla, halwa and gujia after enjoying the colourful festival. Keeping in mind the preciousness and importance of water, water pipes and water sprinklers were not put up for the amusement of the residents as the newly-elected board wanted to emphasize the dire need of saving water. To conclude, it was indeed a great occasion for everyone to come together!
