Leave alone plants, leaves are also being stolen
Recently a strange theft was reported by M block resident, Aarti Maheshwari. When the household woke up in the morning to their dismay they saw that leaves of a beautiful creeper – Monstera Deliciosa, were cut from the stem and taken away. This is a hardy creeper with huge leaves and cannot be picked by hand, one needs a cutter to separate the leaves from the stem. Aarti and her neighbours, The Dutta family had planted the creeper together and both the creepers were doing well and had climbed a tree to give aesthetic beauty to the exterior of the houses. Both households were shocked to see the big leaves missing and only the trunk of the tree was visible. They feared it was the handiwork of a florist or someone designing a theme for an event. It left both the residents wondering and angry as to who would do such a ghastly deed with a well-grown plant. Plant lovers will agree that one brings up the plants like one’s child and not only time and money goes in it, but one is emotionally attached to them.
While Maheshwari’s and Dutta’s are still concerned about the safety of their plants. Another resident from N block shared a picture of a tree, which was lush green and fully grown but has become dry and lifeless due to the construction material lying around and construction happening around it. We all need to be watchful and try to educate people and do our bit in saving the green around us.
