RWA of DLF 2 and Suraksha Committee held a meeting with ACP /SHO of DLF 2 on 19.5.2023 at Police Station N block. The Objective of the meeting with the Police was to review the security issues and take steps to improve them.
There were different concerns raised by the members including:
1. Curbing the prostitution /eve-teasing on MG Road: This is a perennial problem and was highlighted by RWA on earlier occasions as well. It was highlighted that such activities are done under overgrown trees which hide the light and create dark spots.
ACP Vikas Kaushik conveyed that the police is vigilant about such activities
and assured them to step up the patrolling in the vicinity of the area and nab the culprits. Action on trimming overgrown trees and more light to be fixed at dark spots have to be taken to dissuade culprits.
2. Opening of N-0 Lane
DLF 2 residents are facing an issue of not having any direct approach towards Delhi from any gate and having to take a longer route. For more than 3 years, this concern has been raised with all the concerned departments and with councilors in the past. Despite follow up with all departmental heads no action has been taken.
RWA brought to the notice of ACP that the residents are fed up and feel neglected as their genuine demand is not heard. Residents are so frustrated and they plan to protest. Permission to hold Dharna from the DC office is required. RWA will seek permission from the DC office to do so.
- Parking Issue & Unlicensed Hawkers
Parking and traffic congestion issues in M-1 lane, Akashneem Marg And Sikandarpur Metro Station (created by e-rickshaw) were also raised. The SHO assured to challan traffic violators to have smooth traffic.
Many unlicensed hawkers are congesting the road. It was pointed to bring to the notice of MCG on unlicensed hawkers creating traffic jams. RWA and Police will take up with MCG to allow only licensed vendors and they should display the license no.
4. Residents To Connect With Area Beat Officer: It was pointed out that when petty crimes of stealing, and chain snatching happens residents are not aware of the Beat officer presence. It was decided that RWA will circulate, among residents, the contact no of the respective block beat officer
After raising these issues, Suraksha committee head C.P. Singh apprised the ACP of efforts initiated by the committee. These included - Verification of Tenants & Domestic staff to be done online through the website. From this data ID cards for Domestic staff will be generated and the staff will collect from the police station.
- Installing ANPR Cameras at Gates and at vantage points to enhance the Surveillance system. Currently, this step is undergoing trials for attaining accuracy.
ACP and SHO wholeheartedly appreciated the efforts of the RWA/Suraksha committee and it was decided that we’ll have periodical meetings with Police to review security regularly.
