The Gurudwara in H Block hosted a lively and enthusiastic sports day that attracted participants of all ages and backgrounds to the vibrant community of DLF Phase 1. With an array of activities and events, the day was a celebration of sportsmanship, community engagement, and service.
The event was made possible through the dedicated efforts of over 150 volunteers, whose commitment and enthusiasm were instrumental in ensuring the day’s success. The volunteers worked tirelessly to organise and manage various activities, contributing to the seamless flow of events.
One of the highlights of the day was the revered ‘Babaji da Langar,’ where meals were lovingly prepared and distributed to attendees at 9:30 a.m. This tradition of communal dining exemplified the spirit of togetherness and unity, fostering a sense of belonging among all participants.
The sports extravaganza kicked off with a series of exhilarating football matches, showcasing the talents and skills of different age groups and teams. Each match served as a demonstration of the community’s sporting spirit, whether it was the fierce competition between the Shivaji Sena and Keshav Sena in the 51+ age group or the youthful vigour shown by the Bajrangi Sena and Baba Zoravar Singh Ji Sena in the 8-15 age group.
The schedule was packed with engaging matches, including the showdown between Madhav Sena and Shri Ram Sena in the 16-35 age category and the competitive match between Narayani Sena and Rani Laxmi Bai Sena among the women’s teams. The day’s sporting fervour reached its peak with matches like Haryana Police versus Services and Baba Fateh Singh Ji Sena against Mahavir Sena, showcasing athleticism and camaraderie.
In addition to the sporting events, the Gurudwara collaborated with various organisations to offer essential services to the community. AIIMS Ayurveda hosted a medical camp from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., providing health check-ups and consultations to attendees.
Simultaneously, camps were set up for Property ID Correction, Property Tax, Voter ID, Parivaar Pehchan Patr, Aadhar Card, and DLF Maintenance, offering convenience and assistance to residents in addressing administrative and civic needs.The sports day served as a platform not only for athletic pursuits but also for community engagement and support. It brought together people from diverse backgrounds, fostering a sense of unity and camaraderie among the residents of DLF Phase 1.
The Gurudwara in H Block, through this initiative, showcased the values of service, inclusivity, and community welfare, making the sports day an event to remember. Such endeavours not only promote a healthy lifestyle through sports but also reinforce the importance of communal harmony and mutual support within the neighbourhood.
