Diwali Milan Celebrated By Senior Citizens

Deepavali is meant to celebrate the triumphant return of Lord Ram after killing Ravana. This is the biggest festival in India, particularly North India and marks the victory of good over evil.

In recent times, it is celebrated very enthusiastically in Ayodhya but even the diaspora in various countries do not lag behind. Another refreshing news was that the out-going President of USA, Mr. Joe Biden, celebrated Diwali just a few days ago at the White House with the Indian diaspora.

Since there is mad rush on the roads because of the population participating whole- heartedly in purchase of household goods and gifts, the Forum for Welfare of Senior Citizens had Diwali Milan 8 days before Diwali. They celebrated it at their Recreation Centre. The Organizers knew that there would be an overwhelming response but the seats were limited to 150.

As always, the hall was decorated with flowers and diyas matching the occasion. An exhilarating performance was given by 20-25 performers, who presented the Dandia dance, Ganesh Vandana, solo dance, etc. They were so particular in putting their best foot forward that they took out time for a number of rehearsals. The main organizer was Mrs. Meena Kapur. The audience lauded each item, after which everybody enjoyed refreshments and bonhomie.
