Diwali Milan at Overseas Apartments

The festival of Diwali (Deepavali) is the perfect time for fun and enjoyment; this year too it brought the residents of Overseas Apartments together and the much-awaited celebration of
fun, enjoyment and entertainment in the form of Diwali Milan 2022. It has been a tradition, in Overseas, to celebrate all festivals with fun and gaiety and this year Diwali Milan was no less.
The ladies of the Overseas came together and planned a fun-filled Milan in the best of spirits and enhance the feeling of harmony and brotherhood in the society. The event, supported by AOA, was celebrated on 23 October in the central park of the society.
The event – a symbolic moment of community bonding and togetherness – started with traditional lamp lighting by the senior citizens and other residents of the society. The residents and children put up stalls for games, dress material, tableware etc.
This year’s attraction was the Ramp Walk – open for all residents; the participants got chance to take photograph with specially designed Photo-booth as a remembrance of the great community celebrations. The Rangoli competition added flavors to the event and saw three generations participating and coming out with creative, colourful and beautiful rangolis.
There were jhullas and bouncy – major attraction for children. To keep the residents involved in the mela, the organizers had small games, quizzes, puzzles, one-liners with Bollywood as the theme and prizes were given to the winners. There were exclusive games for couples, for boys and girls, and young and old. All enjoyed the beats of Bollywood songs by dancing to the hits.
The festive occasion was marked in a unique way with the residents setting a trend of safe, less noisy and pollution-free Diwali by lighting sky-lanterns and the view of lanterns going in sky gave a magical experience for all present.
The residents showcased their expertise in newspaper throwing (aim high), and prizes were given to winners of musical chairs and Matka-phodo competitions. The last but not the least was the games of Tambola which was played with great enthusiasm and lots of prizes were won by the residents. The carnival atmosphere ended with Lucky Draw where more than 10 prizes were given to residents.
A great evening of fun-filled enjoyment to remember.
