Overseas Apartments continued its cherished tradition by celebrating Diwali Milan 2024 with enthusiasm and unity on the eve of Diwali. Held in the society premises, the ladies of the Overseas with the support of PSEGHS planned a vibrant and fun-filled event to let people celebrate the joyous festival of Diwali in the best of spirits.
The program began on an auspicious note, with traditional lamp lighting by senior citizens and members of the PSEGHS. The creative spirit of residents was also on full display with beautiful Rangoli designs, adding a splash of colour and artistry to the venue. Rangolis and festive lights added to the celebratory atmosphere.
Interesting and innovative games stalls were put up for the children and the residents tried their luck and won prizes. Delicious food stalls by the ladies served a variety of sumptuous food items including sandwiches, kulcha-channa, chaat, idli-vada sambhar, biryani, delicious kheer, masala tea, etc.
The participants clicked photographs on specially designed Diwali-Milan photo-booth as a remembrance of the great community celebrations.
Jhullas and bouncy were attractions for children. For the residents, the organizers had an exciting array of games to participate in — small games, quizzes, puzzles, one-liners with Bollywood as the theme providing something for everyone to enjoy; prizes were given to the winners. The event featured stalls on ready-made garments, suits, sarees and jewellery. Musical chairs and the thrilling Matka Phodho drew special enthusiasm from participants across all age groups.
The entire premises was adorned with twinkling lights, creating a magical Diwali ambience. Bollywood music kept the energy high, with residents dancing and celebrating together.
In a unique way, the residents set a trend for safe, less noisy and pollution free Diwali by lighting sky-lanterns and releasing them in the night sky. That was magical! The last but not the least was the game of “Tambola – a game of chance” which draw lively participation and enjoyed by one and all, fostering a sense of community and friendly competition. The carnival atmosphere ended with a much-anticipated Lucky Draw, where fortunate residents won exciting prizes, rounding off the evening on a joyful note.
A great evening to remember, Diwali Milan was a resounding success. The event exemplified the spirit of Diwali — a time of togetherness, light and happiness. Three cheers to the residents for taking the initiative and organizing the Diwali Milan at Overseas Apartments and hoping for more such events in the society.
