Malibu Town held a Diwali function at the Federation level of constituent RWAs at the Malibu Country Club on 4th November. It was a gathering of Residents and families on a glittering evening to convey the triumph of Light over Darkness; of positivity over needless antagonism!
Diwali is celebrated across India with people lighting lamps in their homes. However, Malibu’s collective celebration at the colony’s country club, held about a week before the actual event (12th November ), was a mesmerizing sight to behold. Decorative lights on Main roads and at the colony’s entry gates gave a festive appearance to the entire township. The display at the venue of the function on 4th November at the Club was a striking sight to observe.
Notwithstanding that Divali is the grandest festival in the Indian tradition, this joint pre-Diwali celebration in Malibu offered all of us a uniquely good experience to meet and greet fellow residents and families in this large township.
Residents started entering the venue around hour seven and a quarter. At that time the gathering was thin.
It built up soon by half past seven.
In no time Kids started merrily dancing. To cheer up the kids. I went to the floor for a while but left soon to give space to the lovable steps of tiny tots. Soon the bigger kids joined in and showed their dancing talent in full view of the gathering.
There were a range of shopping stalls as well as food corners serving tempting eats on payment. In addition, a soft and a Not so Soft drink NUKARR saw a gathering of gentlemen in a lighter mood!
Foot-tapping music with the DJ cheered one and all. The entry ticket of Rs 100 per person with below 16 yrs exempt, was pocket friendly. Besides the well-organized event offered the benefit of enjoyable entertainment with affordable eats nearer home in the colony premises. Tambola and lucky draw prizes were attractions for residents to stay on till the finale.
It is good that the use of crackers and fireworks has come down drastically all over given the adverse impact on Air Quality. In line with these norms, this function by the Federation was totally a Zero Pollution event with no fireworks whatsoever.
Indeed it was a most enjoyable event for those who attended!
