Divija Durga’s Mantra For Great Performance

With the approaching summers, comes the time of the Board examinations result declaration. Board exams are one of the most prestigious and crucial ones under the Indian Education system.

Boards, as they’re simply called, are held for the 10th and 12th grades, with extra emphasis on the latter. Your performance in the 12th grade boards plays an important role in the process of choosing your future path.

However, as important as the boards examinations are, they create a havoc at the same time, in the lives of both, the students and their parents. There is a constant pressure to score the best, perform perfectly, and give your 100%.

This year, the results of the grade 12th board exams were declared on Friday, 12 May. While most of the students performed extremely well, it was to the greatest pleasure of Espacians to see our fellow resident, Divija Durga (Tower 33), top the scoreboard, with 98% marks.

We had a talk with Divija about her achievement, her interests, and her techniques of handling the study-pressure.

Q. Congratulations on your success! Let’s start with your introduction. Tell us something about yourself, where you’re from, when you came to Espacia, and something about your family.

A. Thank you! I moved to Espacia at the end of December 2018. So, this is my eighth year here. I live here with my parents, both of whom are entrepreneurs.

Q. What about your school?

A. I’ve been a student at Amity International School, Noida since nursery. The curriculum has challenged me academically and has helped me develop a strong foundation of knowledge and skills.

My teachers’ passion for teaching and commitment to our education has been truly inspiring, and their dedication has helped to shape me into the student I am today. I had support in all possible areas of my development – from support with my foreign admissions to board-related advising sessions.

I’ve had opportunities to play basketball, write in the school newspaper, debate, and so much more. It has been a wonderful second home to me for the past 14 years. I’m grateful to call myself an Amitian.

Q. Speaking of boards, how did you prepare? Was there any pressure to excel?

A. I came up with a plan in which I started with chapters that were common with the board exams and other entrance examinations I needed to take this year. NCERT, Exemplar, and other books like HC Verma and JEE Archives were excellent resources.

I took a lot of mock tests administered by my school. The feedback I got from my teachers was invaluable.

Q. After the successful execution of this plan, what about your future?

A. I have been accepted at Princeton University, where I hope to study Electrical and Computer engineering and explore my interests in arts and crafts. The fields of Education Technology, and electronic art seem especially intriguing.

I don’t know what exact niche I want to get into, but I want to be well-educated.

Q. That is a wonderful plan, and congratulations on becoming a future student at Princeton! Lastly, I’d ask if you have any suggestions or advice for the younger generation.

A. I’d just say chill and make the best use of your school time. It won’t come back. Find time for your hobbies. Play some sport. Paint something. Doing clay in between my classes and playing basketball in free periods at school kept me sane throughout the year.

Thank you for your time, Divija! I’m sure this advice would be of great help to achieve great heights, like you did. All the best for everything ahead!
