SLRWA Update
In the previous edition of Samvada, we wrote about the SLRWA elections and that a group of residents had filed a petition with the District Registrar stating that the held elections were illegal and in arbitrary manner, sighting various issues including voting by less than 1/4th of the members, unverified list of members list and unfair nomination process. (The DR asked the petitioners to join a video conferencing hearing on 9 May 2024 and 17 May 2024, where after hearing their plea, the district registrar decided that the SLRWA will in-fact move forward with forming a collegium and the allegations against the Administrator cum-Returning Officer were not substantiated. In an order passed on 30 May 2024, the DR dismissed the petition citing that it does not fulfil any of the conditions of Section 40 HRRS Act 2012.
It is believed that the petitioners will now move to the state registrar with their petition on the same grounds and ask for a re-elections.
In the meantime, the Sushant Lok resident waits for a collegium body to be formed so that the welfare of the colony can take precedence over community politics.
