A Unique Initiative of PRWS (RWA) team A Block Extension, GS & Poonam
We all celebrate Diwali every year known as festival of lights. Each family brings home terracotta diyas or wax filled diyas. After Diwali these diyas are removed and thrown in garbage. Since last year 2022 PRWS (RWA) team A Block Extension, GS, Ms Poonam took an initiative and created a Bin and installed it at a convenient place for the residents in the block so that they are able to drop these used puja and decorative items.
This effort was appreciated by the residents. Later all the stuff was donated to NGO’s who recycle this discarded terracotta items and make them into beautiful gifts.
Looking at residents’ support and enthusiasm this year again the same bin was installed. All residents once again supported the move. Several bags were left there filled with used puja flowers and other items.
This is a creative way to manage waste and also beautify our surroundings. This initiative was started in 2022 with an aim to recycle waste and prevent it from getting dumped in the river or garbage dumps.
