Pets are not our full life but they make our life whole, this great saying but some do not believe so. The human inconsideration was at the extreme when on the night of March 18, two well-be-
haved, home pets were seen on the road, trying desperately to survive the jungle raj on the urban streets. One was a white Pomeranian and the other Indie German Shepherd, people were surprised to see their familiarity with humankind and good, friendly behaviour towards others but these traits were not enough to protect them on the open alleys ruled by strays.
Manu Bhatia, who is a resident, asked his caretaker to give shelter to the Pomeranian; to protect him from the hostile atmosphere outside and did what he could as the Pomeranian was ferocious too. In the night some people came calling his name and he responded to them, they took him away as it seems he had lost his way back home, after escaping from the house. The Pomeranian must have learnt the lesson of his life and never would attempt an escape again, I hope. The next morning many people thanked the Samaritan spirit of Mr Bhatia. It was good to see this side of humanity.
The Indie German Shepherd was not that lucky as no one came searching for him, neighbours took care of him for a while but then they asked about the dog shelters nearby where they could drop him off to be taken care of.
Sad affaire, if we can’t take care of pets, why bring them to the safety of home and when they are most vulnerable in life, leave them to fend for themselves. If we are put at the apex of the food chain, we should behave like one to strike a harmony with nature; don’t you think so?
