Last month, an elderly lady was found roaming in the sector. Wearing a blue suit and pearl necklace, she was found outside B-51 and could not remember anything or explain her where abouts. Anita Thapar gave her a pair of chappals and a place to rest. RWCS was contacted, and looking at her condition, she was taken to Sector 39 government hospital by the guards. It was determined that she suffers from dementia and cannot remember much. After a few hours, it was learned that a family came looking for their mother, who was lost, and the security guards at the gates directed them to the hospital. The lady resides in Sector 19, and we can only be thankful that she was reunited with her family.
Residents would recall that such incidents have happened in the past too, wherein RWCS senior members or guards have taken the person to the hospital or contacted the police to reunite them with their families.
For people who become forgetful or have dementia or Alzheimer’s, they can wander from their homes and get lost. One suggestion is that the elderly person be given a bracelet or necklace that has a contact number engraved on it, but there are chances that they will throw it away. It is also possible that if a piece of paper with contact details is put in a pocket, it may be thrown away. A good idea is to write the name and contact number on the inside of the clothes by way of embroidery.
