Like someone asked, who does Delhi belong to? Similar is the situation with Delhi Police. When you manage the law & order of a city like Delhi, you just don’t know, who to hear and who not to. While the councillors, MLAs and MPs represent the voice of the people of Delhi, the Delhi Police does not care about the existence of MLAs and councillors and MPs do not bother about the Police!
Are they in Delhi to protect the elected government?
If they are not for the people, who will protect the citizens of Delhi against increasing crime?
These questions loom over everyone’s head. Cameras galore, first lacs were put up by Delhi government and now similar numbers by Delhi Police but the crime is increasing like never before.
With increasing aspirations and the desire to get everything in no time, cities attracts all kinds of people. Some of these who have no where else to go and no opportunity to earn a living, take up to crime. Gate after gate, have restricted the movement of residents but crime has not reduced in anyway. Ambulance cannot reach in time and so cant any other emergency service at night. If gates and barricades was the solution, why hasn’t the crime gone down?
We as the citizens need to think, debate and find an answer. We need to raise a demand for Delhi Police being a part of Delhi government where the elected members of the people are. Delhi police motto says “aapke liye sadev- for you always” who is this you, The people or the government?
