Delhi Continues to Die

Longest ever illegal game of chess is being played between central and state government in Delhi and it is the citizen of Delhi who is at the receiving end. After the MCD elections, people were eagerly waiting that a change of elected party will lead to betterment of the city. Immediately after the 2022 MCD elections, the mayor’s appointment has become a point of contention and none of the promised work is moving ahead.

Whether it is removal of encroachment on the pavements, conversion of biodegradable waste to manure at ward level, relaying of MCD roads, no work is visible at ground level.

The only project which is once again leading to digging of the length and breadth of our city is the Delhi Police CCTV Project. One fails to understand why cameras are being installed again when the same exercise was carried out by Delhi Government. This is sheer waste of public funds when same exercise is being carried out by a different agency only to prove a point that Delhi state government could not successfully execute the camera installation and monitoring of Delhi city.

Instead of improving the same CCTV project and ensuring reduction of crime in our city, another CCTV project is being executed leading to digging across the city. As per official reports, crime had gone up by 15% in Delhi in 2021 over 2020. The statistics are self-explanatory, and we the citizens continue to suffer as we watch our city die.
