Hamara Neta Kaisa Ho !!!
Lok Sabha Elections are over but for our colony the new election for DCWA is announced in August 2024. As two years are over and
it’s time for new elections in the colony, the residents are seen talking about it in various groups to choose the “the right candidates’ this time for the colony. The residents have observed the deteriorating conditions of the colony in the last few years which has become a matter of great concerns due to various reasons:
• The candidates promise like politicians and once get elected forget their promises and start misusing their powers by threatening the residents as and when they raise their concerns or issues. There are hundreds of cases against the residents in the last 10-15 years on which public money is getting spent to satisfy their egos!!
• This arrogance and egoistic attitude generally result in their poor relations with the various authorities and elected candidates.
• Due to dictatorship, they keep losing their own team members who were elected and were quite useful and knowledgeable to add value with their contributions!
• They lose focus on the alarming civic issues (Security, Sanitation, Horticulture, Water, electricity, roads, sewers etc.) and start self-highlighting by sharing pictures of few events in the colony. The elected MLA, Councilors are invited to cut the ribbons but are hardly seen for the resolution of civic issues of the colony which are now at the highest level!
• Some of these elected members don’t have any knowledge experience or administrative qualities to get the work done from various authorities.
• Def col has few names which are seen in every election of the colony!! Between these political minded groups, only posts are exchanged to pass their few hours in the offices! Few get elected to satisfy their dreams to be a part of RWA without adding any value in so many years!
Choosing the right candidate
AVAILABILITY AND TIME FOR RESIDENTS: Residents need only those members who have minimum 3-4 hours of time for the colony…Time should include 1-2 hours in office for coordination; 1-2 hours personal visits to various authorities for civic issues and 1-2 hours to visit colony every day to find issues, to meet affected residents to resolve their issues; RWA is not like any helpline number on which you just register a complaint and keep following up without any resolution!! this is a small colony of 1 Square kilometer which can be covered within few minutes to resolve issues!! The latest trend observed buy the residents is whenever they raise issues, the office bearers ask them to visit office or asked to join the elected team to resolve the issues!!
KNOWLEDGE OF RESIDENTS’ ISSUES – This is most important as the candidates are also residents of colony and should know all alarming issues of the colony. In fact, at the time of getting the votes everyone copy and pastes the manifesto of other candidates but once elected then there is no one to resolve the issues.
TIMELY ACTION IS MUST – The security, roads, sewers etc. are to be resolved on top priority but as seen by the residents the same issues keep hanging for years …teams keep changing or the same people want to grab the same seats to waste more time for the colony …just to complete their quota of tenures! What a pity!
CONTACTS AND RELATIONS – The candidate must be go-getter to create and maintain contacts to get the work done from MP, councilor, MLA, SHO, DDA, DJB, BSES etc. We have seen that due to unrequired egos and arrogance the elected members lost their contacts and these authorities are using public funds in other colonies!
POLITE, HUMBLE, NO EGOS – It may look repetitive but these are most important during the entire tenure. Residents are not your enemies to keep fighting with them as and when they raise issues to highlight your weaknesses!! Be polite to them as you chose to serve them and not vice-versa.
Lastly, it’s our humble request with folded hands to raise your hands for any post if you have the above qualities and time for the colony to serve with a smile! This is your colony and you have to live here even after losing the elections or after the completion of your tenure with the same bunch of people. Looking forward to new faces that are now ready to serve the colony in new ways!
