Navaratri festival is incomplete without the Dandiya Raas. It is believed to be performed in memory of Goddess Durga’s victory over Mahishasura, believed to be the indication of dramatisation of the fight between Goddess Durga (Power of Shakti) and Mahishasur (the Demon King).
The colourful sticks used to perform Dandiya represent the sword of Goddess Durga.
The residents of the sector looked forward to participate with great enthusiasm and vigour on the Dandiya night, organised by RWA Sector-92.
The evening began with Mata ki Pooja at the pandal set up beautifully in the community centre lawns of sector. The ladies dressed in the best traditional attire of ghagras and choli with beautiful jewellery, looked absolutely ravishing. The residents came out well rehearsed with partners to perform their best and enjoy thorough the evening.
The mouthwatering, lip smacking snacks gol-gappa , chaat-papdi, pao-bhaji and chowmein were relished by all.
The music beats appropriate for the occasion was played by the DJ who continuously presented dance songs and catchy numbers to let the enjoyment go on non-stop. The young and old, children and teenagers all participated in the dance festival bringing a feeling of togetherness and love in the community. Everyone were mesmerised by the young dancers energy and passion while doing garba.
The crux of the festival was to honour the divine feminine and the triumph of good over evil. The festive season is in full swing; the energy and the passion felt by everyone on such occasions is so strong which brings joy to each heart.
